an unintended haul!

Hi all, oh what a dreary wet Saturday morning it is! and we have to go up to the animal shelter and look after the animals in the rain! never mind, I've packed us a picnic and we have our plastic poncho's and we will be fine. We need the rain.

I went on a bit of a spree last night when I did grocery shopping (you will find I buy a lot of beauty and make up products when I do grocery shopping) as Coles supermarket had cover girl at very good prices!

here are the products I bought (it was an unintended haul, and I did buy a few more products however they are more about the body)

I purchased Cover outlast stay fabulous 3 in 1 foundation in the shade creamy natural 820, I was worried it would be dark on my skin I'm used to wearing ivory but the lady at Priceline matched my skin to a beige foundation so I'm slowly adjusting the color. This is two shades down from my usual shade and I think it is a good match. I paid $10 for the foundation.
I also got the cover girl flamed out mascara as I've been wanting it for ages and I only paid $6.47! which was a bargain.
The eye liner I wasn't expecting to get however it was a good buy at $7 something... the cover girl liquid liner pencil.
This blush I bought from Kmart and its the bys blusher in pretty in pink, I'm not a blush girl as I do have naturally rosy cheeks anyways however when I cover that up with foundation I can look a bit dead sometimes lol. So I paid $2 for this one and its not as bright when on, its a nice flush of colour that does blend well.

the mascara tube is so cool!  by the way this mascara works so well, I hate using curling thingo's and this makes me skip the need to use them!
Testing out the products this morning! see I think the foundation is a good match actually and I just love the coverage as I've been wanting a full coverage foundation but I don't think there are many in drugstores.
Excuse me looking tired I'm still a bit sick with my cold!

until next time,

Jess

my animal kingdom part 2

Hello lovelies, this week I have been sick with a bad cold... but am on the mend thank goodness, took today off school (English class) and went to the docs. However I was thinking seeing as so many of you enjoyed meeting Silly the parrot; I thought I would introduce you to my other pet parrots.

I'm lucky to have a few!

This is Tara and she is our hand reared girl that we hand raised from 3 weeks of age as her parents rejected her from the nest. She has a neurological disorder where she can walk around like she is drunk but she is a very special little thing. I've named my youtube channel after her hence my username here being Tara (my name is actually Jess) https://www.youtube.com/dashboard?o=U

Tara is now 4 years old and for those of you who don't know she is a Cinnamon green cheek conure parrot.

This is Jimmy and he is a green male Quaker parrot... he is approx 5 years old and we have had him for about 4 years as we adopted him from a shelter. He's a funny thing and is so bonded with me. He hates all male humans and will attack quite meanly too! he's so cute with me and my female friends though!
This is our latest Sara she's only a few months old and she is a rainbow lorikeet. We adopted her from the wildlife shelter we are doing out work placement at as she was too young to go with the adult lorikeets. She's a lovely girl and hyperactive as anything!

let me know if you'd like to meet my other furbabies or see my aviaries?

April haul!

Hello all, on this dreary Sunday.

Yesterday I went to the shops because its my besties birthday on Tuesday and I had to get her a card and present. We are going out to dinner with her family. She sadly doesn't wear any make up products what so ever haha (sad for me not for her of course) anyway I picked up a few things for me as well whilst I was at it so lets commence the haul!

oh dear, more shampoo products alert!

Tresamme my new favorite in hair care products! I have been lusting after the new shamppoo and conditioner ever since I saw it about a month ago and yes I did break my no more shampoo and conditioner self imposed ban however its for a good cause aka my hair. I paid $5 each for these babies and then I saw the new hair treatment and had to get all 3. I paid $8 for the treatment as it was an introductory offer and as I had the same type of shampoo and conditioner in the red and white bottle I had to get it as well. I have used all three products already as I was that excited! I used the shampoo and conitioner last night and omg my hair feels so smooth and lux.
I used the brand spanking new to shelves Treseme 7 day keratin smooth heat activated treatment this morning and it seriously makes my hair look like I've gone to the hair dressers! it looks like I've had a blow wave. I used my hair s straightener only and its light, non frizzy and shiny! it says to use a hair dryer to dry but I air dryed mine. You activate the treatment when you use the hair straightener as it smooths everything out.
something non beauty related I think some of you know I love Phillippa Gregory's books and this is the last one in the series I am yet to read I think there were 8.
gah sorry bad photo but Target had the Chichi Social butterfly packs of eye shadow pallets and mobile ph covers on sale, I bought it for the eye shadow as I own an android. Anyways the eye shadow cost me $2.80 each! that's insane for chichi prices. They were retailing at $15 each! I got smokey and fashion.
and from Kmart I bought these adorable hipster cat socks for $1.50! I just love them (I collect cat related things lol)
What have you got lately?

feline perfume

sorry for the stock photos but I am so excited about looking at these two perfumes by Katy Perry at Priceline today! they are in their catalogue special and I was quite taken by their sweet feline inspired bottles! I rarely look at perfume and was all surely they'll be so expensive I wouldn't even look again but they are just under $15 so I'm going in to smell them to see if I like them heehee

these are not my images (google search)

Whats your favourite bottle?  I'm rather taken by the dark purple one

easy eye make up contouring for hooded and protruding eye shapes

Hello all today was an at home day today and I planned to do a mini tutorial for an eye look I have been loving. This is how I shape out and contour my eyes a little as I have a combination of protruding eyes and hooded eyes making it hard to do certain looks and what not. You can use any shades as long as the first two on the lids are somewhat lighter and a bit gradual hence why I used white and navy blue. I used black as definition just to show you a more dramatic look but you could use any darker shade you wanted.

All the stuff I used but I did forget to show the black which was a nyx pallet. I used the white eye shadow in that trio and the navy blue shadow.

as usual start with a clean and moisturised face.
start by patting the white shadow onto the eye lid and cover the eye lid, pack on as much white as you can. I used essence eye shadow brush.
pick out any black matte eye shadow.
drag it from the outer corner into the inner corner blending upwards, I used Elf defining brush (I adore this brush)
pick out a blue, it can have shimmer or be matte doesn't matter.
dab it on the outer third of the lid blending outwards.
so it looks something like this, also keep adding to the white and the black to deepen the colour.
wing out the black eye shadow just a little, a bit further from the outer v and blend so there are no harsh lines but keep deepening the colour intensity as required.
The finished look paired with a pinky nude lipstick, black eye liner and mascara and I think its a great sultry look.

This is my first tutorial hope you enjoyed it and let me know if you try out the look I would love to see it

sesame seed oil growing hair naturally

Hello all; well if you haven't worked it out by now I am obsessed with hair care products and in this post I bet I'm going to save you some money and make your hair look great. By using one underrated little product that I don't think is too widely known in hair care its superb at deep conditioning and taming the fly away's; as well as the dreaded monster frizz, you know what I'm talking about the frizz that takes over and makes the hair look like its alive and not in the good way.

I'm talking about sesame seed oil.
I purchased this from Coles supermarket for just $6.99 on special and have been using it ever since, last night I popped it in my hair over night for the first time as a deep conditioner treatment; washed it out this morning and my hair has thanked me for it today. I've been using it like a serum other times. This is how it dried naturally with no products added and no styling (lazy Sunday) for me this is pretty dang good to be able to run a comb through my hair and call it done!

The pro's about this oil
its a light oil but does a similar job to castor oil (I know I've used both)
is cheap and easy to obtain (usually)

easy to use and doesn't break me out in acne as some oils are known for it like castor oil

the sesame seeds are loaded with natural goodness that is great for conditioning the scalp and the hair.

Its naturally antibacterial, antiviral, and anti inflammatory which means it will kill off any dandruff or other fungal's that you may have.

It is also great for treating long term hair loss and bald patches
helps prevent and treat split ends

gives your hair inner shin not just outer applied shine (aka serums or glosses)

sesame seed oil is emolliant rich so perfect not just for hair but for the body as well I've been using it on my hands and feet. Also its UV protecting against the suns harmful rays and soothes sun and wind burned skin and chapped lips.

It contains the natural fatty acids that your hair needs to become soft and strong without being dry and brittle in fact it feeds your hair as its full of vitamins.

It can also help with problems on the skin such as blemishes and acne, eczema, dry skin, psoriasis, it absobs into the skin quickly and is not a heavy greasy feeling like olive oil, makes the skin feel velvety smooth afterwards.

The con's
Because it is a seed I'm not sure how people who suffers allergies would go with it as a topical treatment
the smell of this stuff smells to me exactly like burned popcorn ick

I really love diy and natural products
what have you been using or suggest I use?
happy Sunday
Jess
