Review of the Models Prefer Limited edition "shadows" party glam swatches

I was walking around the beauty section of Priceline and was taken aback by the new eye shadow range they stocked! I was stoked to see that they are all affordable and nicely packaged as well in a cute little tin.

Models prefer have really upped their game in the makeup department as of late, if you didn't know, Models prefer is Pricelines own homebrand makeup line available in Priceline at a very affordable price, they also do hair care, skin care and makeup brushes. Every so often Models prefer will bring out limited edition range, and I grabbed this and am so glad I did, the range of colours is great for day to night, work or school.

The eye shadow itself is very pigmented, smooth and buttery, easy to blend out and use on the lids with or without primer. I believe I paid $10 for this palette, and I love the range of mattes and shimmers in this tin! its quite a good eyeshadow palette to grab if you are in a Priceline store and see it, you won't be disappointed.
I always get sucked into limited edition makeup and if it turns out to be a good buy then yay! and this one was, in my opinion a steal! The palettes also come with this really nice double ended brush which actually does the job really well and is really soft, so for the value of this palette you basically get a free brush included! not a horrible foam applicator.
Can I also mention a drugstore palette naming their shadows on the actual packaging and not on a plastic slip! can we get a hell yeah! finally someone actually doing this.
In the pan you do get a bit of kick back from the eye shadow but on the eye lids no fall out and it blends really well. Doesn't blend to nothing and pigmentation is really nice. I think a great selection of colours that will suit everyone's needs. This is the type of palette that if you accidentally dropped and cracked the eye shadow you wouldn't feel that badly.., maybe.

Often stocked around Holidays and new seasons so its periodic that they bring out these limited edition products.

Have you tried models prefer? what are your thoughts?

Australis Cosmetics AC Gems Limited Edition Velourlips Collection

my love of Australis is forever growing, I am steadily building a collection of their makeup that I'm actually quite impressed with, gone are the days of cheap, over priced makeup that was often sold at Kmart, Australis has really picked up their game, especially in following the liquid matte lipstick trend. On point shades such as blue, white, and all the colours of the rainbow thereabouts. I'll show you my growing collection of these velour lipsticks and I hope you enjoy them.
I'm a lipstick junkie, seemingly these are my crack and I can never have too many, my lipstick collection is beyond 50+ lipsticks. But my go to favourites lately have been Australis. Their price, shades and quality literally can't be beat. I currently have 6 shades, a relatively small collection perhaps, but its growing steadily. I walked into Priceline yesteraday and thought if they had Rad-elaide I would purchase that in a snap, I noticed they had a 30% off sale on Australis so I picked up Rad-elade for $7.99 and the rest I picked up for $5 as they were on clearance!
As expected Full-moon stone was the hardest to apply and work with, it came off streaky and needed multiple coats, it took about three coats to get an opaque cover that I was happy with, I'll probably end up using this shade as a mixing medium, or eye liner. The blue and green were stunning, and Radelade I'm in love with.
I do love a good lipstick, and these are amazing quality for the price, and the fact they have such unique colours. These are supposedly in comparison with the NYX liquid lipsticks, but the formula is a little thicker.
The shades I have on swatch top to bottom are the ac gems limited edition and three standard lipsticks. Out of the limited edition range I picked up Full moon-stone, To-paz or not to To-paz, Em-Ruled city. I also got Shanghai and Maliboo, of course I also picked up their latest release, Rad-elaide.

I'm going to try and hunt down the last shade in the batch of limited editions which is Quartz and All but Radelade is somewhat similar.

Have you got a growing collection of velour lipsticks? what are your favourites? are you sucked into limited editions like I am?

ADDICTED to kmart shopping

Hands up who doesn't love shopping at Kmart? *Crickets chirping* so it obviously means Kmart has upped their game, not only in clothing, homewares, but makeup! I've seen on Instagram Kmart makeup almost has their own little community happening, which is great because at least we in Australia get some affordable makeup that certain other countries don't get haha. I'm swatching today the Fifth avenue blush and highlighter that I got at Christmas.

This brand has been around for a little while now, launching when Face of Australia was taken off the shelves at Kmart. I picked these up in a Christmas gift pack that I paid $10 for, however you can buy them individually for $9 a piece which is still a great bargain for such a good quality item. The gold packaging is very similar to Milani, very chic, very pretty. But their logo FA on the top gives them away that they are not Milani. Still I do get sucked into pretty packaging and am very happy when they live up to how they look.
Fifth avenue makeup has a range of products, including eye shadows, primers, mascaras, and lipsticks etc. I am yet to try the whole range though but from what I have tried, I am very happy with!
As you can see the highlighter is a golden champagne colour, and is pigmented, creamy to blend and not glittery in your face, but somewhat like the Balm Maryloumanizer that it gives that sheen from within look. They staying power is amazing and lasts on my skin all day, without looking cakey, or accentuating my pores. The highlighter is named Goddess.
The blush, Berry Parfait is a stunning dusty rose pink, that is creamy to touch, non powdery, and easy to blend, the brush picks it up like a dream and you only need a little bit to liven up those cheeks with a healthy glow.I think for the pack price that I paid it was a bargain! even $9 a piece isn't bad, if you are wanting to try them!
Overall this makeup brand has really surprised me! I want to try their illuminating primer next, and a foundation so you will see more reviews from this brand! have you tried anything? let me know your thoughts!

a social media rant

Hello all today I have a bit of a makeup related rant! hopefully it ends up on a more positive note, but lets read on shall we?

At the end of the day it can be wiped off, totally clean, like a new beginning, but why is it taken so seriously? to me, it is fun, a self expression, but it doesn't define who I am as a person. What is this that is taken seriously? makeup. It's started trends, coverted products, and has of course brought out the best, and worst in people. If a girl is looked at because she wears a certain makeup then she's called a slut. Makeup however doesn't mean you sleep around with numerous partners, and who cares if you do? to me makeup is a personal thing, if I choose to wear it, its not because of others.
Being singled out because of the way we look is disheartening but learning self confidence is an art. As is the art of makeup in itself, the thing I love about makeup is that there are no rules. You could transform into another person totally on the outside with the imagery of cosmetics. I use makeup like therapy, it brings me up when I am feeling down, I use it like a distraction technique, but I also just love all things makeup.  I've had positive and negative comments on my social media, luckily I have thick skin. For those that don't though, I find it sad, people like Esseno O'Neill coming out with that everyone on ig is fake, or at least explaining why she did what she did.

If we choose to examine why we are so judgemental as humans, are we jealous of the other person? what makes us comment on social media whether or not its positive or negative? makeup can actually influence behaviours. If a girl decides to not wear makeup she is labelled, or if a guy wears makeup he is emo, or gay.

I've always said labels are for jam jars, and expectations are just that, we don't need to live up to them.

What are your thoughts on social media, makeup and some peoples behaviours?

Hard Kandy blush

Hi lovelies! today I am sharing with you, two of my favourite drugstore blushes, I never used to be a fan of blush until sometime last year and that turned topsy turvey on me, and now I'm slowly picking up a sizeable collection, my hubby just rolls his eyes at me.

This is the Hard Kandy blush in Dolly I believe the shade is, its a baked blush and leaves such a nice sheen and colour on the face, its not too pink for me, but its able to be built up, blended out well and has a good staying power.

This one you may think looks like Milani cosmetics at first glance however its Fifth Avenue from Kmart. It is in the shade Berry parfait, I believe they cost about $7 but they are actually a very pretty blush! its not chalky, and blends out well, great pigmentation and staying power.
My favourite blushes seem to be baked blushes and that's what this hard kandy one is, I just love the marbled effect baked blushes seem to have. It's so pretty and natural looking on the skin.
I tend to love deeper pink shades and just apply sparingly onto my fair skin, I'm rather pale! and when I have no blush on, well I look rather flat.
What are your favourite blushes? I'd love to try something different!

a vegan friendly day in pictures

Hi lovelies, today I thought I'd share with you a lovely day I had through last week! it was a simple day, an outing with my partner. We went into Lygon st in Melbourne, which was something different and fun. First off though is my cat Krissy! I love how she folds her paws in!
Don't judge! lol it was cheat day haha I was really craving something naughty like this, I'm trying to eat less and less meat, I probably only have meat about once or twice a week. Which is a lot less than what I used too, everything else is vegetarian friendly.
Soy latte! yummy yummy! I was at a gluten friendly cafe when I had this, everything is gluten free, sadly I don't remember the name!!
We had perfect weather! so nice and sunny, not too warm, just the way I like the weather to be!!
yes! more treats! we went to a bakery that uses vegan friendly cream! I didn't really know that was so mainstream now! so I was surprised! these are cinnamon jam and cream donuts!
Then I hauled some makeup cause they were on special and Db is cruelty free and vegan friendly! so that makes me feel good!
hows your day been?

Kmart makeup Fifth avenue Christmas sets

Hi lovelies! today I have some exciting purchases that I have made! I love kmart shopping, and I feel that I have said that before, in a blog post here, oops. but I do! I go into Kmart a few times a week, so I'm obsessed, but let me show you my purchases, this will be another show and tell type of blog post so I hope you enjoy!

Fifth avenue had brought these sets out for Christmas and they were rather expensive I thought, but still decent value, but I held off, the one with the brushes was originally $20 but they had it on clearance at $10, the lipstick set was $6, and the mascara eye shadow set was $7, so obviously they were marked 50% off.
Is it just me or does the gold round packaging make you think of Milani? also the quality is just as good as Milani cosmetics so for the bargain prices I paid, I think we have an aussie competitor for Milani now! The blush is called Berry Parfait, and the highlight is called Goddess, I wanted the Peach parfait one but they had run out, I'll try and get that on the weekend.
How pretty is the highlight though? I always love a good gold highlight! and this one is so pretty. I was so excited for the lipstick set, and the colours are stunning! the actual lipgloss is quite pigmented which I'm surprised about, usually I hate glosses cause its just gloss, not colour. Lipgloss is called Heavenly, Lipstick is called Rose. I think the colours really present well, and compliment one another well.

That was all I opened from the sets, now also from Kmart I picked up this pastel cute cushion, it was on clearance from $5 to $3 and I purchased the last two there, I collect fox things and just had to have these!

What have you purchased lately from Kmart?

w7 high definition foundation, w7 light diffusing concealer and w7 massive lashes mascara haul

Hello lovelies! I have a haul, I can't even say its a first impressions cause I only got these last night as I had to go to chemist wharehouse and get some medication for my husband. I picked up these three beauties for $10! I could have spent much more, but I restrained haha. So much for my spending band. Oh well, who can resist such a good deal?

W7 is one of the best drugstore companies out there in my opinion, most of their products are under $5 in Australia, except for their eye shadow pallets in the buff and in the nude and another pallete which I think was their painted pallete which was all $10. But still very good prices, they have also brought out a new selection of nail polishes but I digress.

why don't you grab a drink and sit and read awhile?
We have a frothing machine now and I've been addicted to using it of late but sorry I digress again! I do that when I'm excited heehee.

also check out my youtube prize I've won and unboxed in a video here
prize unboxing

ok now onto the goodies!

The products I got were w7 cosmetics and its the high definition liquid foundation I got the shade buff, it seemed it was the lightest they had. I also got the massive lashes mascara, and the light diffusing concealer. I've not used a light diffusing concealer before so it will be actually interesting to see what it does as it intrigues me. I'm also all about big mascaras because I'm scared of using false lashes lol.
The foundation I hope will be my shade, I did test in the store but the lighting was so off I couldn't quite work it out. But it looks light enough in the bottle. I also love that its a pump because I cannot stand pour out foundations. I generally don't buy the ones without a pump. So I just braved it and did swatches for you guys. I'm actually pleased with the colour, and the way it blended out on my wrist as well. My wrist is super pale compared to my actual face though but I'm certain it will match fine.

Here is what the wand looks like, and at first look it looks to be a dryer formula which I do prefer than a wetter formula in mascaras.

now I must admit I got the concealer purely on its packaging, I mean look how pretty it looks? other than light diffusing concealer it doesn't have that much info about it but I've done swatches and shown how it blends out on my hand.

unfortunately it is a pen nib style one which I generally don't like because most of the cheaper drugstore ones have never actually worked for me but luckily this one was fine.
It's actually quite a thick looking product so I I think it will go nicely under eyes and covering blemishes.
by that layer I believe its a coverage that you can build upon, so it looks like it might blur imperfections such as pores.

So that was my show and tell guys, Happy Easter and if you have used any of these products let me know in the comments! or if you haven't just tell me what you think about them, I love getting to know my readers.

Hugs Jess
